中國大陸解放軍1架圖154(Tu-154)電戰機18日通過日本宮古空域，從我東部空域往南飛行，在靠近日本空域時，日本航空自衛隊曾派出戰機升空攔截。這同時也是中國大陸19大結束之後，解放軍首度繞台航訓。
國防部19日表示，中共圖154型機一架昨日上午飛經宮古海域，由北向南飛，執行遠海長訓。國軍依規定全程掌握共機動態，並實施警戒與監控。國防部進一步表示，國軍持續嚴守防空識別區周邊之海、空監控，護衛我海疆與空域安全，請國人安心。
1995年解放軍將兩架民航使用的TU-154M客機，改裝為電子戰空中平台??。TU-154MD電戰機加裝合成孔徑雷達，多個雷達罩，天線和電子戰設備，具備長時間滯空能力，目前解放軍共有6架TU-154MD電戰機。由於解放軍飛行航線接近7日幻象機失聯海域，解放軍恐怕也有偵測意圖。
